Perennial semi-shrub up to 80 cm high. Unpretentious and frost-resistant. In one place you can grow 5-7 years.
Propagated through seedlings, direct sowing or dividing the bushes. Direct sowing is carried out before winter or in early spring to a depth of 0.3-0.5 cm.
Seeding rate: 0.6-0.8 g per 1 m2. 1,0 g = 1200 seeds.
Shoots appear in 10-14 days, they are periodically thinned out. To obtain seedlings, seeds are sown at the end of March.
Hyssop is planted in a permanent place in early June according to a 50 cm x 25 cm pattern.
Care consists in loosening row spacings, weeding and fertilizing with complete mineral fertilizer. Greens are cut at the beginning of flowering. 2-3 cuts are made per season.
Old plants are cut in autumn at a height of 5-7 cm.
During flowering (from July to late autumn) hyssop is very decorative. It is a good honey plant. Hyssop honey is classified as an exquisite variety.
Hyssop is rich in vitamins, mineral salts, leaves and shoots contain organic acids, glycosides, essential oils, tannins and pigments.
Fresh and dried grass is used as a spicy seasoning for various dishes and in canning vegetables.
The essential oil obtained from hyssop is used in perfumery, cosmetics, in the manufacture of liqueurs and tinctures.
And now the herbal infusion is used for bronchitis, bronchial asthma, chest pain, tuberculosis, profuse sweating, menopause in women, as well as for chronic inflammatory processes of the gastrointestinal tract, and digestion. Outwardly, hyssop infusion is used as a wound healing agent.
